Devastating News on UPS Accident: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The total count of victims resulting from the transport jet which burst into flames and crashed has reached 13, as confirmed by recent reports.

Mayor's Remarks

“On my way to the Union’s memorial service, I was informed of a 13th person that passed away as a result of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” wrote the local official in a online message. “My prayers is with the relatives, associates and co-workers of all who were taken in this recently occurred disaster. We will get through this together.”

Victims Confirmed

An announcement from the carrier listed the pilots operating the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts go out to all UPSer who has been touched and all in our local community – supporting you and ensuring you get the support and resources you need is our priority,” the organization’s message expressed.

Investigation Findings

Government officials announced that the freight aircraft’s left wing burst into flames and an engine detached soon after departure from the airfield, leading to the plane to crash and erupt into a blaze.

The NTSB stated it is examining the plane’s service record, which was in the state for repairs a period before the incident.

Flight tracking records showed the jet was on the ground in that location from early September to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this jet was there in San Antonio,” stated an investigator on later, without a specific period. “We will examine each aspect of service that was done, including the Texas time, straight to the date of the flight.”

Recovery of Vital Components

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were retrieved, and the engine was discovered on the airfield.

The units – referred to as flight recorders – were built to survive crash impacts and extreme heat from infernos, and they seemed to be undamaged when discovered amid the wreckage. Investigators plan on analyzing recordings from the devices.

Jet’s final flight details displayed an altitude of 475 feet and a rate of that speed ahead of the accident.

Maintenance Record

Per aviation authority files dated last month, a fracture on a component inside the fuel container required repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies airframe maintenance for the company’s aircraft and manages a service location in that city, chose not to comment, but said it would work closely when officials reached out it.

Services Resume

Meanwhile, the facility services restarted Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or nighttime operation, representative Jim Mayer stated. The three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also back in operation.

The distribution hub in this location is the organization’s largest. The facility hires in excess of twenty thousand workers in the area, handles three hundred aircraft daily and sorts in excess of 400,000 parcels per hour.

Local Reaction

A candlelight vigil was organized on the evening of that date by the local Teamsters Union, which represents workers at the Louisville airport, the company’s primary shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which stands for UPS workers, began the memorial with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the estimated time of the crash before.

“This tragedy was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the mayor spoke to the group of 200. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any one of those who we have mourned.”
